Who is Ms. Sara?
Let me take a some time to introduce myself. My name is Sara Hoover and the three things I hold dearest to my heart are my husband, my daughter, and my hope to leave a positive impact on those who I encounter. With that in mind, I hope to impact those who I teach in a positive way, even if it is a small moment. I try my best to live by the quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." -Gandhi.
I grew up in Summit County and really enjoyed the cold and snow, my family moved to Grand Junction when I was a teenager and I had to learn to adapt to the heat and cactus....two things I am still not keen on. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Elementary Education. After a few years of teaching kindergarten, I decided it was time to complete my Master's Degree. I graduated from Western State Colorado University with a degree as a Reading Specialist. I have taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. Now I get to work with learners in a different capacity as the Enrichment teacher/Gifted and Talented teacher at New Emerson Elementary. I love teaching because of the MANY, MANY things I get to learn each day from all of my students and colleagues.
When I am not teaching I can typically be found outside, I love to ski, hike, bike, and float the river. I am also always working on a project at my house. Right now, I am learning the in's and out's of landscaping! I really enjoy all of the new skills I have aquired from these home projects...although many times I have to remind myself to have a positive attitude and a growth mindset. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better, let's see what we can learn today!
